With heavy hearts, we mourn the tragic event that took place in East Brunswick on   Friday, February 28, 2025 , where a wife lost her life at the hands of her husband. As a church, we extend our deepest   sympathies and condolences   to her family, loved ones, and all those affected by this heartbreaking act of violence. In this time of sorrow, we turn to the   comfort of God’s Word   and the hope found in Christ. 1. God Feels Our Grief and Will Redeem Creation In moments of deep sorrow, we take refuge in the truth that God sees our pain, hears our cries, and is near to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18). Though the world is marred by sin and violence, God is at work to redeem creation from its corruption (Romans 8:21-23). We hold onto the promise that Christ will return and make all things new, bringing justice, healing, and an end to suffering (Revelation 21:4-5). 2. With a heavy heart and deep sorrow, I address the reality of domestic violence, a grievous sin that not only destroys families but also wounds the body of Christ. When one member suffers, we all suffer (1 Corinthians 12:26). The loss of love, trust, and safety in a marriage through violence is a tragedy that grieves us all. My prayers and heartfelt sympathy go out to all who are suffering under the weight of such injustice. May God, the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort, strengthen and uphold them in their time of distress. Violence within marriage is not merely a crime against an individual—it is a grave violation of the sacred covenant that God Himself established as one of love, faithfulness, and honor. A husband is called to cherish his wife, not to harm her; to protect, not to oppress; to love, not to destroy. The Church is the body of Christ, where believers gather to worship, receive the sacraments, and serve one another. Attending church, partaking in communion, and serving are essential aspects of the Christian life—they are means of grace that nourish our souls and keep us connected to God and His people. Jesus Himself instituted the Eucharist, saying, “Do this in remembrance of Me” (Luke 22:19), and the early Church devoted themselves to the breaking of bread, prayers, and fellowship (Acts 2:42). However, these holy practices are not enough without genuine repentance and a true transformation of the heart. One can go to church regularly, partake in communion, and even serve others, yet still live in unrepentant sin if the heart is not surrendered to Christ. Faith without true repentance is empty ritualism—God desires hearts that are changed, not just outward participation.   The story of Jonah is more than an ancient account of a prophet swallowed by a great fish. It is a  mirror of the human heart —our struggles with God’s will, our pride, our resistance to mercy, and our need for transformation.   This is not a literal confession from Jonah but a  reflection on his journey , imagining how he might have spoken if he were to look back and share the lessons God taught him. What if Jonah, after the events recorded in Scripture, came to a deeper understanding of God’s mercy and justice? What if he saw in his own experience a  foreshadowing of the Messiah to come—Jesus Christ, who would suffer, die, and rise again on the third day?   If Jonah were to confess, here is what he might say.   1.
