Safe Return of the Astronauts: A Reflection on the Value of Human Life
Watching the return of the astronauts, I cannot help but lift my heart in gratitude to God for their safe arrival back to Earth. Their return is not only a testament to the remarkable advancements of science and technology but also to the deep care and commitment of the United States to ensure the safety of its people. This, in itself, is a powerful reminder of the immense value of the human soul—how much effort, planning, and resources are dedicated to preserving life.
Yet, even as I rejoice over this moment of triumph, my heart is heavy with grief. While great measures are taken to save and protect some, countless others are mercilessly slaughtered by those driven by bankrupt ideologies. It is a sobering contrast—one that compels us to reflect on the sanctity of every human life.
May this moment remind us of our duty to uphold the dignity of all people, to reject violence and hatred, and to stand for the sacredness of life. Just as we celebrate the return of these astronauts, let us also fervently pray and work toward a world where no life is treated as expendable, but where all are valued as bearers of God’s image.
“Rescue those who are being taken away to death; hold back those who are stumbling to the slaughter.” (Proverbs 24:11, ESV)
