Enthronement on Earth as it is in Heaven

I was not merely present in the Cathedral in Cairo. In spirit, I was carried far beyond the bounds of time and place. As I witnessed His Eminence Metropolitan Pakhomius crowning and enthroning His Holiness Pope Tawadros II—whom he embraced like a beloved son—I felt deeply moved, as if drawn into a heavenly vision.

I found myself asking, “O my God, what am I seeing?” My thoughts turned to the vision of the prophet Daniel:

“Behold, One like the Son of Man, coming with the clouds of heaven!
He came to the Ancient of Days, and they brought Him near before Him.
Then to Him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom,
That all peoples, nations, and languages should serve Him.
His dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away,
And His kingdom the one which shall not be destroyed.”
(Daniel 7:13–14)

In that moment, my heart and mind were captivated by the eternal enthronement of our Lord Jesus Christ following His ascension. As a deacon read from the Epistle to the Hebrews—

“We have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God” (Hebrews 4:14)
a priest behind me softly echoed, “The Father is crowning His Son!”

The earthly and heavenly scenes became beautifully intertwined. Indeed, heaven is forever celebrating the crowning and enthronement of the Son of God as an eternal feast. And today, that heavenly reality was manifested on earth in the joy-filled celebration of the enthronement of His Holiness Pope Tawadros II.

Your Holiness Pope Tawadros II, Your Eminence Metropolitan Pakhomius, and all the beloved fathers—the pillars of the Church: thank you for revealing to the world a glimpse of heaven’s glory through this sacred moment.

Congratulations to His Holiness Pope Tawadros II and to the entire congregation of the Church!

Glory and honor be to You, O our Almighty God!
