Egypt and the Green Horse of the Apocalypse
On Wednesday, February 2, 2011, a live TV broadcast captured a strange and haunting image during the protests in Cairo—a horseman riding what appeared to be a green horse moving through the crowds. Some viewers connected this mysterious figure to the "Green Horse" mentioned in the Book of Revelation. Whether the video depicts a supernatural event or a visual anomaly, its symbolism invites reflection—particularly concerning Egypt's future.
In Revelation 6:7–8, the fourth seal reveals a rider on a pale green horse, whose name is Death. The color symbolizes the sickly pallor of a corpse—an image of decay and mortality. Death, as Scripture teaches, entered the world through the disobedience of Adam:
“You must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it, you will surely die” (Genesis 2:17, NIV).
“Just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned” (Romans 5:12, NIV).
But the same passage in Revelation also points toward God’s redemptive plan. While Adam’s trespass brought death to all, God’s grace through Jesus Christ brings life to many:
“If the many died by the trespass of the one man, how much more did God’s grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many!” (Romans 5:15, NIV).
Jesus humbled Himself, becoming obedient even to death on a cross (Philippians 2:8). He tasted death for everyone (Hebrews 2:9), and through His sacrifice, death was defeated:
“For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive” (1 Corinthians 15:22, NKJV).
Whether the horseman in the Cairo video was real or not, the message behind the Green Horse remains significant. It serves as a powerful reminder that Christ died for all, including the people of Egypt. For a renewed future, the call is clear: believe in Christ and accept His death as the source of life.
This is our prayer and our hope—for Egypt, and for all.
