Yahweh, the Heavenly Father: Introduction

The Lord Jesus Christ manifested the name of His Father to His disciples through His life, works, and teachings (John 17:6). Christ prayed to the Father, saying, “I have made Your name known to them and will make it known, so that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them.” (John 17:25-26, NASU). He also taught His disciples to call the Almighty God “Our Father” and pray that His Name might be hallowed and sanctified (Matthew 6:9).

In the Bible, the names of persons show their honor, authority, character, and more. Thus, the Holy Name of the heavenly Father, Yahweh, reveals much about Him. The heavenly Father revealed His majestic Name Yahweh to Moses (Exodus 3:15). By declaring His name, He manifested His compassion toward His people, His power to rescue them, and His longing to have them as His nation.

“Knowing God the Father by His Name Yahweh” is about God the Father. It deals first with the name of the heavenly Father Yahweh, its origin in Hebrew text, and its rendering in the Bible’s translations. Straightforwardly, the book introduces some theological topics about the Fatherhood of the heavenly Father to all in general and His fatherhood to the Lord Jesus Christ uniquely. Furthermore, it presents the Spirit of the Father and His greatest gift to the believers. The book briefly explains how the Holy Name Yahweh profoundly reveals His attributes, love, power, and majesty.

The thoughts and insights of this small book are not for theological debates but for revealing the Father, the heavenly Father, and having an intimate relationship with Him through the Lord Jesus Christ. On the other hand, the author does not endorse any group’s teachings that use the Name of Yahweh.

May the heavenly Father give us the grace to acknowledge and sanctify His Holy Name in the precious Name of Jesus Christ our Lord and reveal Himself in our inner beings. May He also give us the “Spirit of wisdom and revelation” that we know Him and His mighty work in the Lord Jesus Christ for us (Ephesians 3:16–18). Amen.
